Functional Behavior Assessment

Some children struggle with behaviors that interfere with learning and can create safety issues. When a learner regularly exhibits an interfering behavior, a functional behavior assessment, or FBA, is needed. A functional behavior assessment can be used to help a learner’s team develop a hypothesis concerning the reason for the behavior and select effective behavioral supports to address the interfering behavior.
